Indian Head Massage
What
is Indian Head Massage?
Traditionally, in India, mothers would massage their babies and children. This massage would help to keep the children in good health. As the children grew they would share massage with other family members. Head massage was used by barbers to relax their clients and invigorate the scalp during hairdressing treatments. Tense scalp muscles that starve the hair follicles of nutrients cause hair to grey at the temples.
Head massage now includes the neck, face, ear, shoulder and arm areas as well as the head. The massage is given through light clothing, so there is no need to undress.
How does it work?
Indian head massage will lift the stresses of everyday life. So much of our tension is held in our neck, shoulders and head whether we are at home with the children, shopping, working at a computer, driving etc...... This tension shows up as a stiff neck, eye slain, and headaches. The muscles in the upper back feel achy and knotted. Indian Head massage works using a firm and gently rhythm to help to un-knot blockages and relieve the build up of tension. On an emotional level it has a calming effect and promotes relaxation. Tension and stress are not good for our bodies. Prolonged stress can lead to all kinds of problems such as acidosis, fatigue, headache, heartburn, hair loss, backache, irritable bowel syndrome and many more unpleasant effects.
Indian Head Massage concentrates on the three higher Chakras (energy centres of the body) and works to bring them into balance thus promoting well being.
How long does a massage take?
The session will last approximately 30 minutes. The first session will be a little longer as there will be a consultation form to complete prior to the massage.
